What are the differences between BTCC, BTCC.B, and BTCC.U and in which should I invest?
Asked 4 years ago
Hi! This is a BTCC vs. BTCC.B vs. BTCC.U question. I am choosing between these ETFs and they seem pretty much the same for me. Which one would you recommend? Thanks in advance!

The difference between the three investment vehicles is that they are denominated by currencies.
- BTCC: Canadian dollar
- BTCC.U: U.S. dollar
- BTCC.B Non-hedged currency
The BTCC.B is a bit trickier. Unhedged investments are exposed to fluctuations in foreign exchange markets.
BTCC or BTCC.U are likely better picks because you do not need to be worried about the ups and downs of forex.
Just be careful of the 1% management fee!

The Canadian dollar is the currency denominated by BTCC.
The U.S. dollar, BTCC's other investment vehicle, also uses a form of fiat currency, as does their newest option:
BTCB Non-hedged currency allows investors to not worry about fluctuations from foreign exchange markets because it doesn't hedge itself against them!
If you're looking for an investment with low management fees, these are your best options, but make sure that they will fit into your portfolio and what its objectives are before deciding on one or the other!

Although they are slightly different, BTCC, BTCC.B and BTCC.U share a couple of things in common - all of them are investment vehicles built on Bitcoin yet denominated in fiat currencies (i.e. the amount is expressed in a fiat currency unit). For example, BTCC is the Canadian-dollar hedged version of the share, meaning that the value of the asset is correlated to the value of the fiat currency.
BTCC.U is denominated by the US Dollar and is unhedged, so it will almost certainly do better in times of inflation, as it's not hedged on any fiat currency.
