On what is a dividend percentage based?
Asked 5 years ago
Hi. The dividends you are getting aren't based on the stock price right? I have 30 shares of bns.to at $54 avg. price and I keep getting $27 in dividends quarterly even now that the current share price is at $78. So where is the dividend % based at? Thank you

Dividends are funds that are paid due to shares being owned. A dividend percentage will rise and fall along with the stock price. In your case the dividend seems to be based on the amount of shares you currently have at the moment. I would definitely look into this and see what the stock gain is likely to be in the next few months.
