Is investing and trading the same thing?

I don't understand what the difference is between trading and investing. Does one have more assurity than the other?

Investing is a long-term approach to the markets, and it's frequently used for such objectives as retirement plans. Short-term techniques are employed in trading to maximize earnings on a daily, monthly, or quarterly basis.
