How can I grow my stock market portfolio as a beginner?

Hi I've just started looking into investing in the stock market and this is me doing some research so that I have a strategy in place before I just jump in. How would you recommend a start to grow and diversify my portfolio? Also, any brokerage companies or apps that you can suggest I use?
