What capital growth ideas do you have for increasing my income investing?

Asked 4 years ago

Assume I make 5% in dividends (sum of all stocks that pay per year, divided by my portfolio net size), and I reinvest them to maintain the 5% overall dividend. Also assume that I need $100k (gross) to live on, I don't/won't get a company pension, I don't get CPP because I'm talking about early retirement planning here (so ignoring CPP). I'll then need $2million to meet that goal. Well that's just a lot of money to work, save, and build up while having fun and enjoying life at the same time, right? I've already found putmining.com will get another 11%. So, then, with 16%, I'll now only need $625,000 (instead of $2mil). That's a little better. And I like that it's not even including any capital gains. BUT... I'm wondering what other ideas you've heard of for INCOME investing. I'm not asking for crypto, memes, real estate, etc... I consider those ideas/methods of capital growth. I'm strictly asking about the stock market investments for income here.

To take advantage of the capital growth strategy, it's advisable to invest for the long term.

Here are some options:

  • Build a portfolio of individual stocks
  • Use hedging strategies
  • If you're new to investing, choose ETFs and mutual funds
  • Go with a target-date fund
