Do you need a lot of money when you first start day trading? How much money would I need off the bat if I wanted to start?

The legal minimum balance for stock trading in the United States is $25,000 per day. If the balance falls below that amount, day trading is not permitted until a deposit is made, bringing the total to at least $25,000.
To protect against a wash, day traders in the United States should have at least $30,000 on deposit. If you wish to day trade stocks in the U.S., you'll need at least $30,000 in your account. On $30,000, no more than $300 should be risked on any single trade.
