According to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the Day-Trading Minimum Equity Requirement is $25,000, which must be deposited into your account before you participate in day trading and left there for as long as you day trade.
Moreover, a day trader is typically classified as an investor who makes 100 to several hundred trades per day, depending on the strategy and opportunities.
That said, if you are a beginner day trader, here are some tips to employ:
- Do your due diligence and conduct lots of research.
- Establish and maintain a schedule.
- Only invest what you can afford to lose.
- Refrain from trading penny stocks since they are illiquid and prone to pumps and dumps.
- Stick to your investment plan and remove emotion from trading by being cool.
