Is Microsoft a good company worth long-term investments?
Asked 4 years ago
Between Apple and Microsoft, I would choose Apple, but should I also invest in Microsoft? Is microsoft a good long-term investment? I try not to invest in more than 15 to 25 companies. However, I'm still working out the kinks and deciding what to hold for the long term (20 years goal).

Personally, I think both Apple and Microsoft are a solid choice. Both have their pros and cons, so consider doing your research before picking one.
The case for Apple:
- Apple's smartphone sales drastically rose in the past year; the pandemic brought fast & easy iPhone sales.
- Products like the Apple Watch (with Fitness+) are a top-pick for physically active people - sales for these products have risen 30% this year
- Some Apple services like iTunes or the App Store have had significant success in the last 12 months, having a 20% rise in sales
The case for Microsoft:
- Year by year, the MSFT stock has had better growth than Apple's.
- Microsoft is becoming more focused on data centers and cloud storage
- MSFT stock is slightly more volatile
I have invested in both, but I think AAPL is better in the long run - invest a bit in both, diversification never hurts.
