How do you profit from a copy trade in a social trading network?

Asked 3 years ago

Hey everyone, I need to understand how this works. How does copy trading work? Is it the same as social trading? If I copy the PI, does that mean I would make the same profits as the person I copy trade in the social trading network? Thanks in advance.

Yes, you will get the same profits as the PI. However, there may be a slight difference in profit if the copied trader extends his stop loss by adding more funds. Even though your stop loss will adjust accordingly, your position amount will stay the same, and this may bring a difference in gain percentage.

Copy-trading on a platform consists of directly mirroring the positions taken by another trader that you follow. It essentially ties your account to the account of another investor. But it is up to you how much you want to invest.

This is different from social trading because it allows you to see what others are buying and selling and engaging in idea-sharing.

If you are copying a trade in a social trading network, you might not make the same profit levels. The reason? If it is an open position, this could signal that the trader started buying the stock at a lower price, which means the individual could sell his or her shares after hitting a target.

Suffice it to say, you might be trying to chase gains while that person may have already generated more than enough profit.

If you want to mirror someone who has been on the platform a while, try to start the beginning of a trade.
