How can I be losing money, yet I'm copy trading someone who's gaining?

Good day Guys I joined Etoro last month, and this is the first time I've ever put money in stocks. The person I started copying shows growth in February and March, yet, my portfolio runs at a loss. How?

It is true that copy trading has become popular in recent years, especially as investing has gone social. 
The primary problem with copy trading is that they might have gotten lucky a few times.
Another issue is that by the time the trader you are copying has purchased shares and alerted followers, the price has likely increased, meaning that you will pay a higher premium in the end.
At the same time, it could be a reverse where by the copied investor will hit the sell button, alert his or her followers, and trigger a tidal wave of selling.
In either situation, you are left holding the bag in each transaction.
