Can I trade stocks without paying brokerage fees?

Asked 4 years ago

I was told that one could invest in shares and cryptocurrency without a broker. Does anyone here know how?

For many investors, one of the main barriers to entry had been the exorbitant costs to buy and sell stocks. For example, the TD self-directing brokerage platform charges $20 a trade!

This has changed in North America.

In the U.S., there are many investment platforms that offer zero-commission trading.

Robinhood and Webull are some of the major players in this realm. But many of the leading financial institutions have also introduced zero-fee trading, which is beneficial for anyone who wishes to enter this arena and save money on their investments.

In Canada, there is Wealthsimple that does not charge any fees for buying and selling stocks.

It should be noted that you may pay fees when you purchase exchange-traded funds (ETFs) since they come with minimal expense costs (usually as little as 0.03%).
