Dividend-paying stocks can either be value or growth.

It is best to understand the difference between growth and value.

Value is when investors believe that the stock is underpriced by the financial markets. A growth security is generally a company that is forecast to expand at a pace above the average growth of the market.

Here are some growth stocks:

  • ConocoPhillips (COP): Dividend yield is 2.64%
  • Carlyle Group (CG): Dividend yield is 1.69%
  • Nucor Corporation (NUE): Dividend yield is 1.44%

Here are some value stocks:

  • Johnson & Johnson (JNJ): Dividend yield is 2.6%
  • Goldman Sachs (GS): Dividend yield is 2.07%
  • Pfizer Inc (PFE): Dividend yield is 3.07%

As you can see, both growth and value securities pay dividends. You just need to determine which stocks possess a long track record of payouts and increases.
