Can you automatically invest in ETFs?

I want to automate my trading and investment system. However, am I correct when thinking that some you can automate and some you can't? For example, I want to automate ETF investments. Is this possible?

You can't create automatic investments or withdrawals into or out of ETFs. A mutual fund might be a good option for you.
Depending on your needs, you may customize your preferences to automate deposits and withdrawals into and out of mutual funds.
