What classifies something as a pot stock and how do I know which ones are the best?

Despite marijuana being legalized in Canada and the U.S. inevitably going to make weed available for sale, the market has not been as booming as many would have anticipated. After the initial excitement, weed stocks have not lived up to expectations.
That said, there are a few weed stocks with promise. And, if you are unsure which individual stocks to purchase, you can always take advantage of the Cannabis ETF (THCX). Its chief holdings are Aphria, GW Pharmaceuticals, Tilray, Cronos Group, and OrganiGram Holdings.
So, here are some individual stocks to consider:
