Preferred stock vs. common stock: Whats the difference?
Asked 4 years ago
What is common stock, and what is preferred stock? Are there any similarities, or do they each play a different role?

The most significant distinction between preferred and common stock is that preferred stock does not grant voting rights to investors.
Preferred shareholders have precedence over common stockholders when it comes to receiving dividends. They are paid dividends before common shareholders.
Last in line with regards to company assets are common stockholders, who will be paid out after creditors, bondholders, and preferred stockholders.
