How to Find Stocks That Are Moving for the Day?
Check volatile stocks in the previous trading session, big company announcements, or research in the middle of the trading session to find moving stocks for the day.
Published May 24, 2021.
Day traders make money when the stocks have significant movement during the day. They tend to focus on high-volume stocks that register major price movements.
Why?
Because you can make money in seconds if you play your cards right.
Here's how you can find the moving stocks for the day:
1. Use a Screener
- A screener will help you see the stocks with the highest volatility.
- You can use any screener you like, for example, StockFetcher or FINVIZ. If you decide to use StockFetcher, filter according to price, average daily range, and volume.
- To get more details, you can pay for a subscription.
2. Keep a Daily Eye on Stocks
One way to analyze stocks is to use a screener, as mentioned above, or you can look for big company announcements and news events that give out earnings reports. Also have a look at the volatile stocks from the previous trading session.
3. Check In the Middle of the Day
One indicator of a stock worth investing in for a day trader is one that changes up or down in a matter of hours. Therefore, if a stock opens at 20% and remains in that position, it's not moving and therefore it might be wise to avoid it.
Conclusion
Always remember to do your own research. By following and implementing the above points as mentioned, you will be able to find out which stocks are moving and make your analysis and decision from there.
